Welcome to North Carolina Outdoors. This site is dedicated to the enjoyment and enrichment of our state's natural and cultural heritage.

In photographs and words, this site provides an armchair tour of North Carolina's treasures. It is intended for anyone who enjoys non-motorized outdoor recreation - be it hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, birdwatching, mountain biking, horseback riding, or most anything else. Information is also provided on outdoor festivals, concerts, and other cultural events.

North Carolina Outdoors is also for anyone who is concerned that we may have a diminished heritage to pass onto our children. A portion of this site is devoted to conservation news and commentary.

North Carolina Outdoors went live online in January of 1999. At that time, the only page was devoted to Linville Gorge. It has expanded quite a bit since then, and of course I have plans to add dozens more pages when time permits. So please come back. And get outside and experience the real outdoors.
